2003 Rawson’s Retreat Chardonnay

Posted on September 13, 2009 - Filed Under Chardonnay, Reviews, White wines, Wine Reviews, style | Leave a Comment

Price: 8.00

Ah, this is the life. The wine’s not bad, and its a Friday. We’ve got the ultimate faux spread. These weird gromatoes, smoked ghouda, kettle korn, and some weird synthetic lobster. Anyways…the wine…a nice fruity taste, lots of flavor; wine is better with cheese. I’m running out of adjectives for Chardonnay. Its time for either an increase in quality or a new style.

2003 Pepi Sauvignon Blanc

Posted on September 13, 2009 - Filed Under Reviews, Sauvignon Blanc, White wines, Wine Reviews | Leave a Comment

This is a truly yummy summer wine you can drink by the bottle. More honeysuckle than fruit, this lacks the crispness of some sav’s, but makes up for it with floral oakiness, with a hint of Macintosh apple.

Brandy says, “Like a crisp, tart, green apple turnover. Reminds me of champagne, but that could just be my period talking….”

Upon further reflection, Brandy tastes lime. Rancid lime…

2003 Nepetine Tryst

It has been a while since I wrote a review, but this wine knocked me out of my slumber! Robust, sweet, spicy…what a great blend!

It has the jamminess of the zin, the plumminess of the cab, and the, uh, temperanilloness of the temperanillo. The Condor says, “Caw! I am a Condor! Condors are birds of prey! Caw! Caw!”

2003 Dolcetto D’Alba

I don’t know what the fuck this wine is, but I know its from Italy. It starts off a little bitter, like it could use a good cheese, but the fruity almond finish is like nothing I’ve ever had. Who knew?

2003 Brancott Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blancs are my absolute fave right now. This one is no exception. I love how forward the fruit is. Melon, grapefruit rinds, banana, and crisp (not too sweet). You have to be careful what you pair with it, cause it can be easily overpowered, but for a cool sip after work on a hot summer’s day, I’ll take this puppy over a Miller Lite anyday of the week and twice on Sundays!

2003 Avila Pinot Noir

I had to downgrade a previous wine to which I had given a 92, because this one is better and 2 bucks cheapter! It’s fucking incredible! If this wine were an eighty-year-old man, with saggy, gray testicles changing in the YMCA locker room, I would kneel down and give this wine the blowjob of its life. That’s how good it is. Fuck!

p.s. Motherfucker!
