Cotes du Rhone

2006 Perrin & Fils Vinsombres

This is a subtle cotes du rhone with mild tannins, and a very pleasant, perfumy taste. Nice hints of lavendar, hazelnut, and honey blossom…but I find myself wishing for a little more bite.

Mike says, “It’s like a chick with big gigantic tits that are fake.”

This wine was $12.50 @ Spec’s, which is a great value. Has the typical hazelnut, earth and mild tannins, if a little tart. This wine starts off a little tight, and should be opened for 90 minutes or so to really enjoy.

Price: $10

Trying to balance this out by getting into reds now. This wine is the only bottle under $12 in the Wine Spectator. So, there you go…

This wine is tasty. Not a lot of flavor, but that’s typical of Spanish wines. Its peppery, light on the palette and with no burn. I believe the word they like to use is ‘velvety’. Sweetens as it breathes…I officially like Spanish wines! Diane Keaton is bugging the shit out of me in this scene. All in all, I’d call this evening a draw.

Today’s lesson: You can’t outsmart getting hurt. You have to go for love. Why are you waiting to have the time of your life?

(Editors note: I am posting these reviews from many years ago, and in hindsight, it is clear that this wine is a French wine, and not a Spanish wine. Clearly I am not very intelligent…)
